God in Me: Like a Hand in a Glove

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. 2 Corinthians 5:20a

hand_glove_150pxWe have the saying in the Christian communicator's training and supply organization that I serve on faculty with called CLASSEMINARS, "Writing and speaking go together like a hand in a glove." This is a great visual, but recently I was thinking about this. God has called me to be a Christian speaker and a writer, to declare His message of life to others through my testimony. In fact, even before my writing began to reach the world back in 2003,  God gave me the verse fromPsalm 96:3: Publish His glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things He does." Suddenly I saw this hand-and-glove comparison in a whole new light.

I stopped to ponder the fact that God is The Writer and The Orator of all time, and when a person is appointed to bring His message to others through the spoken or the written word, that person has become the glove that contains the Hand.

I used to believe that I was merely relying on God to "help me" write or speak His message. But now I understand that I am His message. He literally writes and speaks through me when I am in obedience and humble dependence on Him.

That God would choose to identify Himself and to communicate His heart to His people through someone me—to grip me in His firm and steady fingers as His pen, or to rest His holy hands on my heart as His keyboard, or to hold me confidently up to His mouth as His microphone—is a very mysterious, sacred calling, one that must be carefully, responsibly, deliberately, and soberly attended.

What has God called you to do in order to declare His message of life to the world? Maybe it's not speaking or writing, but remember that you are a vital part of the body of Christ. No matter what part of the body you have been gifted and called to serve as, God will work in you like a Hand in a glove to accomplish many great things if you willingly submit yourself to Him and to His plan in humble dependence. And you will join me and so many others as we become a part of the sacred and holy calling of His-Story!

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God (1 Peter 4:11).
