Speaker Bio

Vonda Skelton is a former RN, freelance health writer, author, speaker, and entertainer who doesn’t mind blabbing about her messes in exchange for your education and entertainment. From black eyes to pink pigs and spider veins to webs of deceit, life is a stage—and every day offers a bounty of new material. You just can’t make this stuff up! At age 10, her first stage comedy was a song and dance routine of “Side by Side,” sung with an upside-down broom bearing a construction-paper face. They won $10 together, and Vonda was hooked!

She had no idea her years as an RN, a Consumer Relations Specialist, and a retail sales clerk, combined with her love of the stage, would prepare her for something she really could get excited about—speaking. What fun it has been for her to take the stories of work and life and use them to entertain, motivate, and teach professional audiences across the country.

In addition to writing health articles for family magazines, Vonda is the author of four books for women and children. During her almost 30 years as an RN, Vonda was able to find the humor in healthcare, leading her to collect hilarious patient comments she calls “Award Winning Complaints.” Those complaints will soon grace the pages of her fifth book.

Vonda is a past member of National Speakers Association (NSA) and an active member of Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA). As a speaker, Vonda addresses business, associational, and social groups, women’s groups, writer’s groups, churches, and schools. Her philosophy is that regardless of age, gender, or season in life, everybody needs to laugh, and learn something in the process—and it’s Vonda’s job to see that they do!
