Parting Words From The WORD…

This year I’m thrilled to be participating in the Through the Bible in a Year Living Power Online Bible Study with Shannon Mullins. It has already been an amazing study and I’ve learned so much from Shannon as she pulls out details of the passages I’d never noticed before.

As I write this I remember that just this morning, Shannon pointed out that when Jesus was in the wilderness and Satan tempted Him, all three of Jesus’ responses were scripture (which I already knew) AND that all three were taken from the book of Deuteronomy (which I didn’t know).

What a great reminder that even Jesus, God as man, studied and memorized and used the scripture to fight temptation. Not only that, but God preordained that Moses would write down those verses that Jesus would use—and all three within a few pages of each other.

Do you need to stand up to Satan today? Do you need to fight back? Jesus used these verses, and I have a feeling they would work for us today as well.

…man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. Deuteronomy 8:3 (Matthew 4:4)

Do not test the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 6:16 (Matthew 4:7)

Fear the LORD your God, serve him only…. Deuteronomy  6:13 (Matthew 4:10)

Let’s commit to study His Word this week, and we will have the ammunition we need to stand up to the Evil One, the one who wants to steal, kill and destroy our lives.

I pray God’s blessing on the work of your hands and your hearts,

Vonda
