Soft, strong, available…Puffs. If there is one legacy my mom left behind, it’s keeping at least one tissue in every pocket. When she died last summer and I went through her things, I seriously found enough tissue in all her coats, sweaters, and shirt pockets to make a quilt.
I can’t tell you how awesome it is to be outfitted with tissue when in need. Like mom, I usually keep one in every pocket of every coat, jacket, and sweatshirt I wear. In the summer you’ll find them in the little pouch on my bike. I have them in my jeans pockets, the car, my night stand…you get the idea. Nothing surpasses my fetish for tissue (except for maybe my love affair with chapstick).
As you’ve probably also experienced, there is nothing worse than burlap disguising itself as facial tissue, especially when you have a cold. This is why brand of tissue is everything. And not just softness, but also durability. Every now and then, a rebel tissue escapes my notice on laundry day and goes through the wash. I can pretty much tell if it’s a worthy brand of tissue by what happens next. Bad ones—looks like a January blizzard hit all my clothes in the washer. Good ones—a nice sheet intact in my washer at the end of the cycle.
As far as I know, there is only one brand that holds up to the soft AND strong test. Puffs with lotion! Puffs are really awesome, and they are worth the extra money.
There is something else strong, soft, and always available that is ultimately better than any other awesome thing!
…And one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.” And I saw between the throne and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain…” Rev. 5:5-6
If I brought Jesus with me wherever I go, much like I do tissue, imagine how useful—strong and soft—I might be for others. What an impact I could make! Also, relying on Him more when life gets in the spin cycle, I might stay somewhat intact instead of blowing out all over the wash. He is my Amazing King! Now that’s awesome.
