We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren… For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps… 1 John 3:16 ; 1 Peter 2:21
So, I’ve had at least one person not get this. I hate to over-explain and would rather you could just enjoy the moment. But just in case, let me explain. I am not promoting voodoo–the film is portraying the voodoo master as evil and I see a bit of Satan in him, toying with and dispensing of mankind without mercy.
I am not suggesting that we can be anyone’s “savior” in a spiritual sense. I see the “doll” who gave his life as a picture of Jesus, giving His life for others. And because of His example, we can be moved to sacrifice for others. Many people throughout history have been “Christ-types” and have sacrificially laid down their lives for others–some even unto death.
I hope you enjoy today’s lesson… and by the way, I know Jesus is way superior to a voodoo pin doll. That is not the point.
