I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future He has promised to those He called. I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance he has given to His people. Ephesians 1:18
I think we have underestimated the magnitude of the inheritance. I think we have too often focused on the fire escape, and downplayed the coming reward for faithfulness! We have believed and lived as if this world is our home, and forgotten that something so much better is just around the corner, especially for those who are willing to live a life of faithful sacrifice for Jesus!
What is the INHERITANCE?
What is the REWARD?
The Bible is very clear that at the first resurrection (after the Tribulation) of His faithful followers (when we get our new amazing bodies) will be a Kingdom set up on this earth where Jesus reigns and celebrates with His people for 1,000 years. This is not the "new heavens and new earth," but a Kingdom of peace that was first promised to Jesus' people Israel.
This teaching is in line with Messianic Jewish teaching, since this inheritance was promised all the way back to Abraham and was written about frequently throughout the Bible, especially the Law (Torah), the Psalms, and the Prophets. Whenever Jesus talked about "The Kingdom," He was speaking about His dominion—both the spiritual dominion He accomplished in His first first appearance on earth, as well as His coming physical dominion during His second reign on earth.
In His first appearance, He came to bring us peace with God through His death and resurrection. When He conquered death, He was given the Kingdom by His Father to set up His spiritual dominion."You are those who have stood by Me in My trials; and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom…" (Luke22:28-30).
In His second coming, He is coming back to establish His physical Kingdom here on earth and to subdue His enemies. At this time, He will finish fulfilling His promises to Israel.
How have we underestimated the REWARD? Now we have laid the groundwork for what is our reward, generally speaking, but when you look more closely, the REWARD is mind-blowing! Stay tuned for the continuation of this most exciting destiny for God's people!
