Can't Wait for Home

Gosh…time sure gets away! It's been far too long since I wrote a blog. I've been on the road again, keeping Willie Nelson company. In fact, I'll be on the road about 5 out of 7 weeks this fall, and I already feel homesick.

What a great topic…home. In fact, what a great word! Don't you just love to be home? Maybe even if you call a mud hut your home over in India or the jungles of Africa, there is probably still some kind of comfort at the thought of being in your own space where everything is familiar.

I believe God made us with an innate desire to be peacefully at home. If your home is not a safe refuge from the storms of life but instead is full of them, what a tragic reality. Then it would seem that there is no place to feel safe, comforted, rejuvinated, and at rest.

I think God made us with this desire for being home, one that will never fully be realized in this temporary, broken world. Why? So that we will always be reminded that this world is not our home, and we will look forward to our coming, everlasting one. That is the day when we will finally feel home in the truest sense.

There will be amazing peace, comfort, joy and rest in our eternal home, and we will never be uprooted again. With so much change and turmoil in this life, I love looking forward to that day, what about you?

My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest. Isaiah 32:18
